Our Approach
How do we approach therapy sessions?
At DeNovo Psychotherapy, we use an integrated approach to therapy, drawing from a variety of evidence-based methods to meet the unique needs of each client. Our focus is on exploring relational patterns and understanding how these influence your emotional well-being and daily life.
Through collaborative conversations, we help you build awareness of the patterns that shape your behaviours, relationships, and sense of self. By uncovering these insights, we aim to empower you to make meaningful changes, strengthen your connections, and live a more intentional and fulfilling life.

FAQs
Psychotherapy in Ontario is a professional service that helps individuals explore and address emotional, psychological, and behavioural issues. Registered psychotherapists (RPs) and social workers offer these services, using evidence-based approaches to support mental health and well-being.
In Ontario, registered psychotherapists are regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Social workers who provide psychotherapy are regulated by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Both bodies ensure that clinicians meet professional standards and provide safe, effective care to clients.Virtual psychotherapy is an effective way to receive mental health support, offering similar benefits as in-person therapy. Therapeutic literature shows that online sessions can be just as impactful, providing clients with the flexibility to access therapy from the comfort of their own homes or spaces.
We work together to create a safe, confidential space online, ensuring that therapeutic goals are met effectively.
Finding the right therapist is key to a successful therapeutic experience. To determine if a therapist is a good fit for you, consider their approach, areas of expertise, and how comfortable you feel during interactions.
We offer a 15-minute free consultation call with no commitment, allowing you to discuss your needs and see if the connection feels right. You can start or end therapy at any time—your comfort and trust in the process are our priorities. If our therapists don't feel like the right fit, we are happy to help connect with other referral options.

Treatment looks different for everyone because every client’s journey is unique. Your therapist will work with you to create a personalized plan tailored to your specific goals, needs, and circumstances. This collaborative approach ensures that therapy remains flexible and adaptable as your needs evolve.
For some clients, short-term therapy (5–10 sessions) can be highly effective for addressing specific concerns or learning targeted skills. For others, ongoing therapy may be recommended to explore deeper issues, work through complex challenges, or support long-term growth.
We take several factors into account when shaping your treatment, including:
-
Your goals and preferences
-
The therapist's skills and areas of expertise
-
Evidence-based practices and current research
-
Practical considerations, such as insurance coverage
Our aim is to provide a supportive and effective therapy experience that meets you where you are and helps you achieve meaningful growth.
